How it works
Three steps, no haggling
- 1
List what you've got
Add each game, console or accessory with its completeness and condition. Photos help us quote faster. Add a value if you know one and you'll see a rough estimate as you go.
- 2
Get an offer, locked 14 days
A real person checks every item against current sold prices and sends an itemized offer. It's yours for 14 days — accept or decline, no pressure.
- 3
Ship or drop off, get paid
Mail it in (free prepaid label on offers of $50.00+) or bring it to the store. Once we check it in, you're paid in store credit or cash.
Our rates
What we pay, out in the open
Every offer is a share of the item's current market value — what the same copy, in the same completeness and condition, actually sells for. Higher-value items earn a higher share, and store credit is always 15 points above cash — about 30% more money.
Store credit
About 30% more than cash. Never expires. Spend it on anything sold by Jay's.
Cash
Paid by check, PayPal or in store once your items are checked in.
| Market value | Cash | Store credit |
|---|---|---|
| $5 – $49.99 | 45% | 60% |
| $50 – $249.99 | 50% | 65% |
| $250+ | 55% | 70% |
| Working consoles | 45% | 60% |
| Under $5 | Bulk lot or declined | |
The adjustment guarantee
We inspect everything when it arrives. If what we receive doesn't match the description — a missing manual, a dead save battery, a reproduction — we'll re-quote those items and tell you why. If the new total is more than 15% lower than the offer you accepted, you can decline it and we'll send everything back free.
Mail it in
Accept your offer and we'll email a free prepaid label for offers of $50.00 or more. Pack carts in a padded mailer or small box, consoles with plenty of padding, and write your trade number on a slip inside.
Drop off in store
Bring the items and your trade number. We'll check them in while you wait when we can, and cash trades can be paid on the spot.
Questions
Trade-in FAQ
How do you decide what my stuff is worth?
We start from recent sold prices for the same item in the same completeness and condition, then apply the rate for its value band. The estimate you see while building your list is only a rough guide based on the values you type in; your actual offer is based on current market prices after a person reviews each item.
Why is store credit worth more?
Credit stays in the Exchange, so we can pay more: in every value band the credit rate is 15 points above the cash rate (60% vs 45%, 65% vs 50%, 70% vs 55%), which works out to about 30% more money. It never expires and applies at checkout on anything sold by Jay's.
What about cheap games?
Items with a market value under $5 aren't bought one by one. We'll either make a single offer for them as a bulk lot or decline them — either way, the offer tells you which.
How do I get paid in cash?
Cash trades are paid by check, PayPal or in person at the store once your items are checked in. Tell us your preference in the notes when you submit.
Do you take reproductions or modded consoles?
We don't buy reproduction carts or discs. Modded consoles are considered case by case — mention every modification in the notes so the offer is accurate.
Who pays for shipping?
We email a free prepaid label once you accept an offer of $50.00 or more. For smaller offers, ship to the address in your confirmation email with tracking — or drop off in store.
Ready to clear the shelf?
It takes a few minutes to list your items. You'll get an offer, and there's no obligation to accept it.
